Usage Note 40708: Selecting a subtotal value in a linked crosstabulation table might return incorrect query results

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If you include subtotals in a crosstabulation table that is linked to another SAS® Web Report Studio report, the subtotal values are also linked. However, some subtotal links do not pass valid entries to prompts in the target report. If users click on such a link, the prompt window might appear or the query might return no results.

For example, if all prompted categories are on the rows, and your subtotals are on the columns, then the subtotal links do not work. The same behavior is true if the prompted categories are on the columns and subtotals are on the rows. In both cases, you typically see results similar to this:

However, if all prompted categories are on the rows, then row subtotal links should send the appropriate value. In the following example, Furniture and Sofa are sent to the prompts.

Similarly, if all the prompted categories are on the columns, then column subtotals send the correct values.

If some prompted categories are on columns and some are on rows, then the subtotal links work as long as the prompted categories are in the outermost position.

In the following example, with Product Type in the outermost position, the link works.

However, if you move Country to the left, then Product Type is in the innermost position. If you click the subtotal link, the value Subtotal is passed to the Product Type prompt and no results are returned.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

After you apply the hot fix, you can set a property that suppresses linking for subtotal values.

  1. In SAS® Management Console, expand Application Management ► Configuration Manager (► SAS Application Infrastructure).
  2. Right-click Web Report Studio 4.x, and select Properties.
  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
  4. On the Advanced tab, click Add.
  5. In the Define New Property dialog box, complete these steps:
    1. For the Property Name, enter .vmwide.wrs.table.removeLinkOnSubtotals
    2. For the Property Value, enter true
  6. Restart your web application server in order to enforce this change.
